Dr. Evelyn L. Lewis successfully provides clients with strategic solutions to their health and health care problems

NEWNAN, GA, September 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Evelyn L. Lewis, MD, MA, FAAFP, President and Chief Executive Officer of Evelyn Lewis International, has been named a Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Health Care Consulting. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who’s Who membership.

Inspired by her father, a general practitioner, she was exposed to the world of medicine at a young age. Her interest was encouraged by observing and making house calls with him. As a result of these experiences, she knew by the fourth grade that she wanted to be a doctor. Today, she has more than three decades of medical experience and expertise in research, health care, cultural competency, clinical practice, and medical policy.

In order to share her knowledge and skills in a way to best benefit others, Dr. Lewis established Evelyn Lewis International, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). As the president and CEO of her company, she offers health care strategy and consulting services with a focus on multicultural and diverse populations. Dr. Lewis constructs health care presentations and workshops, creates proposals and meets with clients to provide strategic solutions for their health care problems. She has also co-developed a training solution that augments and enhances the skills needed by providers and allied health professionals who treat and care for service members and veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and TBI.

In addition to successfully running her consulting business, Dr. Lewis is also the owner of Evelyn’s Ultimate Pecan Pies. Established in 1999, this company is a vehicle for Dr. Lewis to sell her highly acclaimed gourmet pecan pies to consumers and restaurants. In recognition of her overall success, Dr. Lewis was recently selected for inclusion in Pro-Files Magazine. She attributes her accomplishments to the support she received from her parents and teachers.

Dr. Lewis earned an MD from Chicago Medical School in 1983. A veteran of the U.S. military, she completed a residency in family practice at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Throughout her career, she has received a number of formal honors, including the W.E. Upjohn Award for Innovation, the Women of Color Emerald Honor for Medical Education Award, a Commendable Service Medal, and a President’s Award. She has also been featured in a number of publications. Dr. Lewis remains current in her industry through affiliations with the American Academy of Family Physicians, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, The National Medical Association and American Medical Association.
