Big Fin Seafood Kitchen Offering Fresh "Super Colossal" Stone Crabs Until End of May
Fresh shipment of rare, "Super Colossal" Stone Crabs arrives at Big Fin Seafood Kitchen and will be offered until the end of May.
ORLANDO, FL, March 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, Big Fin Seafood Kitchen announced that it has secured a partnership with one of the largest stone crab fishermen in Florida. The deal allows Big Fin Seafood Kitchen to offer fresh Stone Crab claws for a rare, extended timeframe this year.
Stone Crabs come in five sizes: Medium, Large, Jumbo, Colossal, and Super Colossal. Big Fin Seafood Kitchen will be offering the biggest, "Super Colossal" Stone Crab claws to stone crab lovers at the famed Orlando seafood restaurant until the end of May.
"Thanks to our fisherman's extended license, we are able to offer these Super Colossal Stone Crab claws until May 30, 2011--well past the usual May 15th date," said Executive Chef James Slattery.
Bobby Moore, owner of Big Fin Seafood Kitchen, says that the each Super Colossal Stone Crab claw weighs about a pound each. "These Super Colossal Stone Crab Claws are massive," said Moore. "The staff is just amazed at their size and taste, and we are all very excited to be able to be featuring these stone crab claws at our Orlando seafood restaurant."
Moore said that these coveted Super Colossal Stone Crabs come direct from Key West, Florida.
Stone crabs are part of a highly valued and regulated industry in the state of Florida. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, only the claws--not the body--of stone crabs are allowed to be harvested. Florida law prohibits taking claws smaller than 2-3/4 inches long, and fishermen are required to return each stone crab safely to the water. Most stone crabs regenerate their claws around four times in their lifetime.
