Wine Tasting on Foxen Canyon Wine Trail can be an exhilarating experience.

SOLVANG, CA December 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wine Tasting on Foxen Canyon Wine Trail can be an exhilarating experience. Not only is this winding road full of beautiful scenery engulfed in rolling hills, oak trees that defy gravity and endless vineyards but the wine is amazing! During our first foray into this area we made our way out to Rancho Sisquoc which is some 13 miles in from picturesque Los Olivos. Rancho Sisquoc is an amazing destination as their grounds are very inviting with a great outdoor patio to sit, taste and enjoy their wines. They boast over 350 acres of planted vineyards and all of the Rancho Sisquoc Wines are Estate Grown. My personal favorite was their 2007 Cellar Select Meritage made up of 29% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 16% Petite Verdot and 13% Malbec. Definitely worth a try!

On our way back to the Santa Ynez Valley we decided to stop at a very rustic looking Foxen tasting room. This place is one of my favorites as its quaint location amongst nature is hard to replicate. We were graciously helped by a very accommodating Carrie who made our experience both insightful and fun. Foxen is interesting in that they don't give you lengthy descriptions on their wines but rather let you garner your own conclusions. My personal favorite was their 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from Vogelzang Vineyard which is located in the Happy Canyon appellation. Another interesting piece of information is that Foxen has a waiting list for their Wine Club!! Apparently, they cap their member list at 2000. You might want to hurry and get on the list!!

After two very lengthy tasting visits we headed back intent on visiting the rest of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail Vineyards soon! We will be sure to post when we do. Until then! Cheers!
