LateRooms.com - Help Break a World Record at International Chefs Day in Prague
The organisers of International Chefs Day in Prague are attempting to break a unique world record next month.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, September 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eager foodies heading to Prague towards the end of next month are sure to enjoy tasting the range of produce available during International Chefs Day.
Although the day itself has been celebrated around the world on October 20th every year since 2004, special events will take place in the Czech capital on October 23rd.
Tourists and business travellers who head out from their Prague hotels to visit the Old Town Square will be able to join in with the fun and taste plenty of delicious food, with all proceeds being donated to helping the world's poor.
However, the day is about much more than cooking, as the organisers attempt to imprint their names on the annals of history by breaking the world record for the most people wearing professional chef uniforms at once.
Manager of the Association of Chefs and Confectioners of the Czech Republic Zuzana Albrechtova explained the occasion has many aims, beyond allowing visitors to fill up on fine food.
For instance, she said the body is keen to encourage as many youngsters to take up careers in the sector as possible, while it is also a great opportunity to raise awareness of the profession among members of the public.
Old Town Square is located in the heart of Prague's historic quarter between Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge.
